Welcome to wellbody at Blue Valley Pediatrics We realize you have a choice in health care and appreciate your trust in allowing us to participate in the care of your child. The clinic believes excellent communication and fast access is the best way to serve its patients. Treating your child like one of our family makes Blue Valley Pediatrics a better place to help raise your child into a "wellbody!" It takes a strong body, a clear mind, a good diet, and positive role models to live as a wellbody! 6376 College Blvd, Leawood, KS 66211 913-469-1225 fax 913-696-0267 After Hours Doctor's Line 913-469-4178 |
Blue Valley Pediatrics has a philosophy of preventative healthcare as important as the acute treatment of injury and illness. Recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics are followed by this office. If your family chooses not to immunize, we respect your decision, but it is suggested you find another option for your child's health care.
Patients more than ten minutes late to their appointment may need to be rescheduled to keep other patients on time. There is a $25 charge for "No Shows" (patients who do not keep appointment or have not called at least one hour before scheduled time to cancel).
Our job is to do our best in diagnosing and treating your child’s illness or injury with the first visit if possible. Your job is to continue communication with our office if things change or recommendations do not result in the expected outcome. Realize that even if the recommended treatment has been successful in one hundred patients before- your child’s case may be slightly different or not result as expected. In unexpected cases, other specialists or tests may be needed. Your telephone call can make the difference in allowing us to quicken your child’s recovery. Please communicate with us; remember- you are your best child’s advocate.
Normal test results will not be routinely called to you but you are always welcome to call us and check.
Your co-pay is due at the time of service. This is required by the contract signed between your insurance company and Blue Valley Pediatrics. After insurance has paid, it remains your responsibility for paying any unpaid balance. A well-run practice depends on your current payment- owed balances by one family can result in decreased efficiency and conveniences for the entire clinic’s population. If you have questions about your statement, call our financial officer at 913-469-1225. A due date will be shown on your monthly statement. Payment is expected by that date. If you are unable to make a full payment, a telephone call to 913-469-1225 can be made to arrange partial payment or a monthly payment plan with our financial officer. If there has been no payment or payment plan set up within sixty calendar days past the date of service or after the monthly statement due date : a $15 monthly charge will be added until the balance is paid in full. Scheduling future services for any patient with the same guarantor for which a balance is due may be postponed until a payment plan is started. Follow up appointments and treatment plans, for the safety of the child, will be addressed at that time. Collection procedures on unpaid balances without a payment plan (or without payment within thirty calendar days of a previously agreed upon payment plan) which is past 120 calendar days from the date of service is administered by a collection agency- not Blue Valley Pediatrics- thus it is ALWAYS in your best interest to ask questions and discuss a payment plan if you can't pay in full, rather than waiting or not paying at all. *Payment plans are acceptable- and easy to arrange. If you can not pay your bill at one time, simply call 913-469-1225 and ask for the financial officer to set up a monthly payment option that will eliminate late charges or collection agencies.
Other: :Copied information in medical charts for patient is $15.00 service fee plus 15 cents per page. :Ear rings (for over 4 month old children) are placed by our nurse for $45.00 (ear rings included) :Books, clothing, and non-medical items are occasionally for sale, ask at the front desk Returned checks will have a $15.00 service charge and the balance is due within 7 business days and before subsequent visits can be performed. Your child may need to be seen without the parent/guardian present. A form can be filled out to document your wishes including: another adult bringing your child such as a babysitter or grand parent or you may allow a patient with a driver's license to come alone. A third party consent can be filled out for coaches or teachers to be allowed access to portions of your child's medical information. If the patient is over 18 years old, we will ask the patient if they wish for parents to have access to portions of their medical chart as well. Medications: Some medications (prescription and over the counter) are available at the clinic, or you may wish to get them at your pharmacy. If medications are dispensed at Blue Valley Pediatrics, your insurance medication card is not accepted and payment is due at the time of service. If your child receives a maintenance medication, (for asthma, ADD, etc.) refills should be requested several days before the medication runs out. Blue Valley Pediatrics requires 24 hours for all refills- Friday or holiday requests will be refilled the following business day. Some medications require follow up in the office to discuss dose changes and document vital signs such as blood pressure and weight. After Hours Care: The after hours phone line is for emergencies, updating the clinic on previous visits, and assistance in after hours urgent care. Refills, appointment scheduling, paperwork, and billing/insurance questions can not be handled using this number- please call 913-469-1225 during regular business hours. The After Hours Phone Number is 913-469-4178 There is a $25 added charge due at the time of the visit (that your insurance company may or may not pay) plus any copay/coinsurance/deductible for patients seen at the office during non-business hours, weekends, or holidays. The fee is typically less than most insurance companies co-pays for an emergency room visit. Home visits are $125.00 plus lab tests and medications if necessary. Insurance may reimburse for this, but payment is due at the time of service. Lastly: We are constantly updating our services. Please let us know if there is something we have overlooked or could do better. We are a small office and therefore it is easier to be flexible, personal, and think about you as an individual- not a number- so please ask, and thanks again for the opportunity to be a part of your child's health care. *UPDATED 7/4/2010 |
